FlagMeaning

Red Flag
This informs all drivers that they must stop racing immediately and proceed to their pits or the place foreseen by the regulations of the event, exercising extreme caution and being prepared to stop if necessary

Yellow Flag
Stationary: Drive well within your limits. Do Not overtake. There is a hazard beside the track

Waved: Slow down. Do not overtake. Be prepared to change direction or follow an unusual line. There is a hazard on the track

Double Waved: Slow down. Do not overtake. Be prepared to stop. The track is wholly or partially blocked

You do not overtake until you have passed a green flag marking the end of the danger area

Green Flag
This signals all clear and is used at the end of the danger area controlled by yellow flags

Blue Flag
Stationary: You are about to be lapped. Let the other car through

Waved: Let the other car through immediately. You are now risking a penalty

A stationary blue flag will be shown to a driver exiting the pits if traffic is approaching on the track

White Flag
Stationary: You are about to catch a much slower vehicle

Waved: You may be seriously obstructed by a much slower vehicle

Red And Yellow Striped Flag
This indicates deterioration of adhesion. Informs drivers that the conditions of adherance on the track surface have suddenly deteriorated in the area beyond the flag. This flag is most frequently used to signal that oil has been dropped on the track, but can also be used to inform drivers of either a pool pof water large enough to create aquaplaning, or that due to a local shower drivers are about to pass from a dry to a slippery surface; This being the case, the flag will be displayed accompanied by a hand pointed to the sky

This flag shall be displayed for 4 laps or until the surface returns to normal. It is not however necessary for the sector beyond where the flag is being shown to show a green flag

Black And White Flag
Black And White Flag divided diagonally into black and white halves. Shown motionless with a white number on a black signalling board

it is a warning (shown once only) to the driver, the number whose car is shown, for unsportsmanlike behaviour

Black Flag
Black Flag shown motionless together with a white number on a black signalling board

This informs the driver of the car, the number of which is shown, that he must stop at his pit on the next lap

Black Flag With Orange Disc
Black Flag With Orange Disc Shown together with a white number on a black signalling board

It informs the driver, the number of whose car is displayed, that his car has mechanical problems likely to endanger himself or others and means that the driver must stop at his pit on the next lap. As soon as the decision to stop a driver has been taken, his pit should be informed to enable the "STOP" signal to be shown there

The Chequered Flag
The Chequered Flag indicates that the race has completed. Once a driver has passed the chequered flag he should stop racing and proceed to parc ferme
